ABU DHABI, 8th August, 2017 (WAM) -- The National Archives Corner at the children's international educational city, Kidzania - Dubai, has undergone significant modernisation, being revamped and equipped with interactive devices that enrich visitors with knowledge and enhance learning through play, experience, fun and enjoyment. The revamp of the site was carried out in light of the needs of visitors according to their suggestions.
Since its establishment in 2013, the National Archives has contributed to introducing the new generation to the civilizational and cultural legacy of the UAE and its great leaders, as well as to deepen the sense of national identity, while promoting loyalty and a sense of belonging to the homeland.
The revamp and promotion of the National Archives Corner in Kidzania includes many interactive games to develop the cognitive intelligence of children. These provide scope for further communication between children and their parents. The set-up of the "Family Tree" is at the forefront of these interactive games, as a child is able to learn how to create his own "family tree" by entering data, designs and applications inspired by the UAE environment. This enjoyable experience enriches a child's knowledge of his genealogy. The significance of this and other such games at the National Archives Corner is increased by the fact that all the information is in both Arabic and English.
The National Archives Corner uses a 360-degree screen to show an educational film that was prepared and filmed in a collaboration between the National Archives and the Emirates Heritage Club. The film introduces visitors to the heritage of the UAE and its deep history by documenting the country's history, including the professions practiced by members of the UAE maritime community before the period of oil, such as pearl diving and traditional fishing methods. The film also deals with popular games in the UAE, customs and traditions, the land and sea heritage, and health and education in the old UAE society. It compares and contrasts all those aspects with the shining present that the UAE has managed to achieve under its wise leadership for its people and those residing within its borders.
The National Archives Corner in Kidzania World is also equipped with a 'green screen' system, through which a visitor can capture memorable photographs of 'virtual' visits to monuments, forts and castles. This makes children's visits to the National Archives Corner in Kidzania a wealth of knowledge and a journey that remains forever in their memories.
The National Archives Corner in Kidzania - Dubai has received about 64,000 visitors and about 1,500 educational institutions as of June of this year.
