SHARJAH, 23rd November, 2017 (WAM) -- H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, attended the graduation ceremony of the Second batch of students from the Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) professional diploma programme, held at the SIH headquarters in the Sharjah University City, on Thursday.
Abdulaziz Almusallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, delivered a speech in which he stressed that the programme aims to prepare highly qualified and well-trained cadres that are capable of preserving Gulf and Arabic heritage in line with SIH’s aspiration to become a specialised institution in the field locally, regionally and internationally.
Al Musallam reiterated that the initiative of establishing SIH is the brainchild of the ruler of Sharjah whose directives and incessant support SIH has made such a great achievement in academic, scientific, research and practical fields.
He then congratulated the graduates and wished them successful careers in the future. He also expressed gratitude to the academic and administrative staff who presented the courses to students in an excellent educational milieu, in which students learnt the best heritage conservation practices.
Then, Abdul Aziz Hassan Al Jarwan delivered a speech on behalf of the graduates in which he highlighted the continuous support of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for the protection of heritage. He also thanked SIH administration and all those who contributed to enrich and support the programme.
After that, the audience watched a documentary the programs of professional diplomas offered by the Institute was presented last year.
The number of graduates of the Second batch of the programme reached 80 in the six categories of the programme: Cultural Institution Management, Field Collection of Cultural Heritage, Cultural Heritage Management, Museum Management, Architectural Heritage and Restoration of Manuscripts and Heritage Documents.
