ABU DHABI, 29th November, 2017 (WAM) -- Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister for Tolerance, stated that the martyr is a symbol of pride and glory, and an immortal model of loyalty and giving, and a leading and unique example of sacrifice.
In his speech on Commemoration Day, Sheikh Nahyan said, "On Commemoration Day, we remember our righteous martyrs who left us with their deaths but remain with us through their sacrifice and glory. Regardless of the words we say or the articles we write, we will never be able to pay back the martyrs in any way, and how can it be any other way, when we are in front of a generous elite of the nation’s children who gave their lives to achieve pride, security and safety for us all in the UAE, and have set us an example that death for the nation’s rise and the fulfilment of its values and principles is the noblest sacrifice and greatest duty and honour."
"We say today that the UAE’s martyrs are alive in our hearts, and they are a constant reminder of the greatness of this dear nation. This greatness is evident in those heroic men and their pure souls that float in the heavens above the UAE. We, on Martyrs’ Day, while praying for the souls of our righteous martyrs and for Allah Almighty to accept them in his heaven, are full of pride and honour for their sacrifice, which represents our love for the nation while protecting its interests and offering life itself for it," he added.
"We, today, on Commemoration Day, must think about how our generous martyrs gave their lives in order for us to live with freedom and pride, and for the UAE to flourish with strength and the supreme values and principles that have marked its journey," he further added.
"We, on Martyrs’ Day, can see the greatness of the UAE in the sacrifice of its martyrs, and in all its efforts to glorify them and celebrate their pleasant memory. We, on Commemoration Day, remember, with great pride, the families of the righteous martyrs, their fathers, mothers, wives, children, brothers and their neighbours, and we are proud of their patience, strength and conviction that the martyr does not die, but they are always a shining light for the UAE people and a source of pride and honour for their family and nation, and a source of strength and determination for all the UAE’s children," Sheikh Nahyan continued.
"We, on Commemoration Day, also celebrate the values and principles that have established the journey of our brave armed forces, which are the values of loyalty, fulfilment, performance of duty, taking responsibility, prioritising the nation’s interests and acting with honour, integrity, mercy and bravery," he further said.
"We, on Commemoration Day, considering everything said, present our promise and pledge to do all we can to serve this giving nation to our leaders, President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and their brothers, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members the Rulers of the UAE," he further added.
"May Allah Almighty have mercy on the UAE’s righteous martyrs. We consider them to be in the presence of Allah Almighty, as he is the refuge, and we pray to him with devout hearts to grant them his mercy and forgiveness and to grant them a place in his heaven among the righteous, and excellent are those as companions," Sheikh Nahyan expressed.
"May their memory live in us all, as they are role models and examples, and we can learn, from them, the lessons of pride and honour. Allah Almighty, help us walk on their path, to fulfil our pledge, stand up for the righteous, give for no return, and offer our souls for the UAE," he said in conclusion.
