ABU DHABI, 11th March, 2018 (WAM) -- Emirates Diplomatic Academy, EDA, has celebrated the graduation of four senior diplomats from its New Ambassadors Programme, bringing the total number of graduates so far to 22.
Developed by EDA in collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the programme aims to enhance skills and knowledge of newly appointed UAE ambassadors and support them in their efforts to achieve the country’s foreign policy goals and aspirations.
The programme's core themes include political analysis, international law, media handling, and diplomatic protocol and etiquette.
Speaking on the occasion, Bernardino Leon, Director-General of EDA, said, "We are proud to have mentored such a talented cohort of diplomats and I am confident they will go on to become outstanding ambassadors for the UAE. These diplomats play a vital role in building, cementing, and enhancing our relations with the countries in which they will be based."
He added, "In today’s increasingly challenging international arena, diplomacy requires new thinking and mindsets. With a curriculum that has been carefully tailored to reflect the ever-changing geopolitical realities we deal with every day, the programme equips our diplomats with the ambassadorial intelligence they need to navigate the 21st century diplomatic landscape."
Now in its eighth edition, the two-week executive training programme examines a diverse range of topics related to international affairs, diplomacy, and cross-cultural communication.
