ABU DHABI, 12th May, 2018 (WAM) -- Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, has affirmed the strength of bilateral relations between the UAE and the United States across various sectors since the establishment of the state and the union by the founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
He made his remarks during a meeting with a US delegation headed by Knox Thames, Special Advisor for Religious Minorities in the Near East and South/Central Asia at the US Department of State.
He added that Sheikh Zayed, the wise ruler of the Arabs and Muslims, always emphasised the importance of tolerance and co-existence among peoples.
Sheikh Nahyan said that President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan considers tolerance as a sure means of peace and development, and that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, sees tolerance as a key component in the UAE's quest to be a world leader. He also added that His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has always assured that "we are in an era where co-existence, tolerance and respect for diversity are essential prerequisites for progress and prosperity."
The Minister of Tolerance noted that the UAE's leadership, government, and people are keen to promote tolerance, respect, co-existence and harmony among all components of society without any discrimination.
The delegation, in turn, praised the UAE's extraordinary experience in enriching the values of tolerance and co-existence between different nationalities, religions and cultures, considering the country as a centre of human interaction, communication and intellectual and cultural creativity
