ABU DHABI, 9th July, 2018 (WAM) -- His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, underscored the importance of the Emirates Fatwa Council as the official reference for fatwas (Islamic rulings) regarding the lives of people and work of institutions.
''Our religion is a faith of tolerance and coexistence, calls for building, development, communication and interaction with other cultures and religions for the sake of peace and stability, enhancing bridges of good and cooperation,'' His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed said while receiving members of the council, led by its Chairman Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah, at Al Bahr Palace on Monday.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed wished the new body success in serving Islam and the community through coordination of Fatwa mechanisms to come under one reference in the UAE.
Members of the council termed their selection to membership of the council as ''a huge responsibility'' and prayed to Allah Almighty to aid them in performing it in a way that serves both Islam and the community.
In October 2017, the Cabinet issued a resolution creating the UAE's Fatwa Council which will be the official, reliable reference for fatwas, coordinate fatwas, unify their sources and oversees all work related to fatwas.
Mandate of the council will also include promotion of tolerance of Islam and ruling on latest developments and issues in the community.
The council is made up of prominent scholars and experts on Islamic Sharia .
Present at the meeting were H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region;Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC); H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan; H.H.Sheikh Surour bin Mohammed Al Nahyan; H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation;H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior;H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs; H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation;H.H. Sheikh Omar bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation; H.H. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance;and a number of Sheikhs and senior officials.
"The directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to launch a series of initiatives that help stimulate the economy, is in line with our approach to enhance the ease of doing business and to simplify procedures for our investors. This approach has made our current business model a success in the global business arena, especially when it comes to facilitating business operations and reducing costs," Al Rahimi said.
Al Rahimi pointed out that the lease space of the park equals 2.3 million square feet, and the offices of the headquarters have all been fully leased out. He also remarked that 65 percent of the first phase of the Business Park had been leased out and the second phase has been available for leasing out since early this year, which reflects the high demand that businesses have for setting up offices there.
The list of leading international companies that have set up operations in the Business Park includes Emirates Post, Siemens Postal, Parcel and Airport Logistics; Nestle Middle East; and the University of South Wales, which opened the first aviation academy of its kind in the region. Other companies that operate in Business Park include Lagardere Travel Retail Duty-Free, Maersk Training, the Chinese Business Hub, CEVA Logistics and Joannou and Paraskevaides Limited.
Al Rahimi revealed that the Business Park will soon launch an innovative initiative which aims to aid companies operating in the park by increasing their competitiveness, enhancing their ease of doing business, and helping them to take advantage of their surrounding environment by forming beneficial partnerships that help improve their operations. He added that Business Park will spare no effort in helping its patrons to develop their businesses and achieve their goals.
