KUWAIT, 2nd December 2018 (WAM) - The 46th General Assembly of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) opened here today in attendance of representatives of various Arab news agencies, including Emirates News Agency, WAM.
Kuwait News Agency, KUNA, quoted Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Mohammad Al-Jabri as saying at the opening speech that the world today is going through a critical phase of accelerated events and challenges that cannot be ignored by media, especially Arab News outlets.
Arab News Agencies play a major role in promoting awareness among people while also shouldering the responsibility of addressing rumors that aim to destabilize relations, as well as confronting such immoral ideals, especially from terrorizing extremist factions, said Al-Jabri.
He added that media outlets could support the national development efforts and influence the citizens in taking part in these efforts through channeling their energies in the right direction to achieve maximum benefit from their ideas, which would eventually lead for a more constructive future.
WAM is represented by Abdullah Abdul Karim, Director of the Media Coverage Department, who emphasised the importance of the meetings. He thanked Kuwait for the warm hospitality and excellent organisation of the event.
