Sharjah, UAE, April 18, 2017(WAM)-A delegation of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, the media and communication arm of the Sharjah Government, is headed to Kuwait to participate in the 14th edition of the Arab Media Forum, scheduled to be held from April 23-24 in the Kuwait City, as part of its efforts to boost relations and cooperation with the media fraternity in general and government media entities in particular in the GCC and around the world.
The delegation led by HE Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), is looking forward to making several presentations to brief the participants and the media community about the role, initiatives and events of the Bureau, including the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF), the Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA) and XPOSURE International Photography Festival etc.
The SGMB, earlier known as Sharjah Media Centre, will also have an exclusive stand in a special media exhibition that is being held on the sidelines of the Forum, showcasing the mission, vision and objectives of the Bureau.
Speaking about the participation in the Arab Media Forum, Kuwait, Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of the SGMB, emphasised the Bureau's keenness to strengthen relations with the media fraternity in the wider Arab world and bolster the bonds of cooperation with various media entities and stakeholders in the region, besides highlighting Sharjah’s successful experience in the vital sector of government communication.
Underscoring the importance of the Arab Media Forum in Kuwait, Allay said it is set to deliberate on a host of challenges and issues confronting the media sector in the region. He hoped that the exchange of experience and expertise of various stakeholders at the Forum would help the Arab media community further grow in order to present a positive image of the region before the world.
He lauded the continuous efforts of the Arab Media Forum to enhance the media environment and experience in the region and improve mechanisms of cooperation to boost the Arab media identity and network.
As part of its participation in the Kuwait forum, the Sharjah delegation will also be making presentations about the process of participation in the prestigious Sharjah Government Communication Award, which in its fourth edition included two categories dedicated for the GCC countries – the Best Government Social Media Engagement and Best Government Communication Campaign.
The Sharjah stand in Kuwait will also showcase a number of publications brought out by the Bureau, including a special book on the immensely popular IGCF, profiling diverse experiences and case studies by top media experts, decision makers and leaders of international institutions in the field of government communication, including recommendations by the Forum.
It also includes a groundbreaking book by the Sharjah Government Communication Award documenting the best practices in government communication, including 23 leading case studies and national experiences that won the Sharjah Government Communication Award in the last three editions.
The book serves as a reference point for media experts and all those interested in the field of government communication and institutional excellence. It is also an invaluable gift to all academics, students and practitioners of government communication and media professionals in the region, offering several practical case studies.
This 14th edition of the Arab Media Forum includes an open dialogue session with HE Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, with the media. Other notable sessions will discuss the media environment in the region, challenges faced by print and electronic media in the Gulf, art and media, the future of media, and community issues etc.
The Forum will bring together decision makers, top media professionals and experts. The winners of the 2017 Media Innovation Award will also be announced and feted on this occasion.
